Your tasks
- Ocean freight coordination: You are responsible for planning and booking sea transport for customers. You analyse the shipping requirements, select the most suitable transport options and ensure timely bookings with shipping lines and shipping agents.
- Documentation: You ensure the correct and timely processing of the necessary transport documents, such as bills of lading, customs forms and other relevant documentation. You make sure all documents comply with applicable regulations and are accurately archived.
- Communication and planning: You act as the main point of contact for customers, shipping lines, shipping agents and other parties involved. You communicate proactively with all stakeholders to ensure shipments are carried out on time and according to requirements. You also coordinate the collection, delivery and storage of goods.
- Customs and regulations: You have a good understanding of customs procedures and regulations relating to ocean shipments. You make sure all customs documents are completed correctly and that all relevant customs procedures are followed.
- Optimising internal customs procedures and logistics processes, and supporting audits, inspections and reports relating to customs activities.
- Advising customers and colleagues on technical customs matters, guiding customs processes within the organisation, and coordinating import and export clearances and tax handling.
- Cost control: You negotiate rates with shipping lines and other service providers to find the most cost-effective solutions for customers. You monitor transport costs and make sure invoicing is handled correctly and on time.
Is this you?
- Several years of experience as a customs forwarder is an advantage.
- A customs qualification is an advantage. If you do not have one yet, we will be happy to arrange suitable training.
- You are self-assured, work accurately and think in solutions.
- You speak Dutch and English fluently.
- Knowledge of customs processes is an advantage.
- You can work independently, have a strong sense of responsibility towards the organisation and a customer-focused attitude.
- You are familiar with office software and quickly master IT applications.

You play a crucial role in the customs process and in planning, booking and managing sea transport for customers. With your extensive knowledge of customs and the maritime sector and your strong organisational skills, you ensure a smooth flow of goods and deliver high-quality services to customers.
